In the spring of 2018, I was given the opportunity to redesign the employee dashboard for Pensacola Christian College and Abeka. Branded Employee Central, the dashboard is a resource for all employees. Employees can check their email, view hours worked, submit vacation time off, and even check what is on the lunch menu. I worked as the lead designer and front end developer for this project. I also collaborated with the IT department and ASP.NET programmers who assisted with dynamic functionality throughout the website.
Problem: In the previous design, the filters & categories took up a large amount of space on the page. This was annoying for users that came to the page frequently to have to scroll further down on the page just to view the actual calendar.
Solution: Create a collapsable filter section at the top of the page. Design the interface to be easy to use for people who may choose to filter the categories. Use icons to indicate an “edit button” so users would know they can click on individual tabs. Check out the video below to see the redesign solution!
